Sumac Chicken with Yogurt Sauce

Sumac Chicken with Herbed Yogurt Sauce

A Middle Eastern-inspired dish that’s zesty, juicy, and packed with flavor!

Ingredients:

For the Chicken:

  • 1.5 lbs chicken thighs or breasts (boneless, skinless)
  • 1.5 tbsp A Spice Affair Sumac
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced (I had to use our Granulated Garlic)
  • Juice of 1 lemon (I used RealLemon from the jar)
  • 1 tsp A Spice Affair Pink Himalayan Salt
  • ½ tsp A Spice Affair Ground Black Pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

For the Herbed Yogurt Sauce:

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley or mint (or both) – I used fresh mint
  • 1 tsp A Spice Affair Garlic Magic (optional but amazing!)
  • Zest of ½ lemon – I had to skip this!
  • Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions:
  1. Marinate the Chicken:
  2. In a bowl or zip bag, combine chicken with sumac, garlic, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and olive oil.
  3. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for deeper flavor).
  4. Cook the Chicken:
  5. Grill, bake (400°F for 20–25 min), or pan-fry the chicken until fully cooked and golden.
  6. Prepare the Yogurt Sauce:
  7. Mix all sauce ingredients in a bowl. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  8. Serve:
  9. Slice the chicken and serve with a generous dollop of the yogurt sauce.
  10. Optional sides: warm pita, couscous, grilled veggies, or a cucumber-tomato salad.
Served with some Rice – cooked with some Garlic Mashed Potatoes in the water,
